ABERVIAN joins the Light Mobility Cluster

January 2025. This month we welcome a new member to the ecosystem. In this case, we spoke to Marina Andión, Business Development Manager at Abervian.

How and why was Abervian founded? What is your mission and core values?
Abervian was born in response to the technological needs arising from the electrification of transport, the rise of renewable energy and the challenge of reversing climate change. This is why the founders, Javier Barahona and David Oliver, created Abervian in 2020, driven by their experience and technological capabilities in these sectors and their obsession to create a work environment focused on people's growth and empowerment.

Abervian was born with a clear purpose: to ensure that every element capable of producing, consuming or storing energy is efficient, sustainable and connected. We work to develop technological solutions in the areas of energy storage, e-mobility and intelligent energy management for third parties. We design and develop products for demanding customers who are looking for a technology partner who can provide them with peace of mind throughout the process.

Abervian's core values are people, technology and the environment, and these serve as key guidelines for daily and strategic decision-making in the company.

How would you describe the Abervian team? What kind of professionals work in the company and what characteristics stand out?
Abervian is made up of a team where curiosity, excellence and a service-oriented mindset are common traits. Over 90% of our team are engineers with expertise in firmware, electronic design, mechanical and electrical design, algorithms, prototyping and software. This gives Abervian a multidisciplinary nature and the technical skills required to develop complex solutions across multiple sectors such as light mobility, automotive, aerospace, marine and aviation.

How important is innovation to your company and how do you apply it in your daily operations?

Innovation is an essential element in providing the cutting-edge solutions that characterise our company. Abervian also has internal implementations in terms of processes and team management in the pursuit of continuous improvement. The company is currently a member of six different consortia dedicated to the development of public R&D projects, which are fundamental to improving and strengthening the team's technical skills and collaborating with industry leaders.

What is your value proposition? What does the company offer to the mobility sector and how does it differ from your competitors?
Our value proposition is to provide companies in the product and project development phase with all our engineering capabilities in high-tech design and development, either for partial or full execution. We guide our clients through the design and development process of their products, bringing their ideas to life from the "blank page" to the first prototypes and industrialisation. Thanks to the experience of our multidisciplinary team, we are the product design company able to offer fully customised solutions in the fields of energy management, batteries and electric mobility, where commercial solutions are insufficient and a high level of technical expertise is required.

In general terms, what is the impact of the mobility industry in Spain? Can you talk about its economic, social and environmental impact?
Electric mobility is driving the Spanish economy, creating jobs and increasing GDP. Every euro invested in electric mobility generates 1.8 euros in GDP, and it is expected that this investment will create or maintain 550,000 jobs over the next ten years. In addition, the transition to more sustainable mobility contributes to a fairer and more inclusive society, improving the quality of life in cities by reducing pollution and promoting inclusion and equality.

What are the company's future projects and plans? How do you want to position yourself in the market and what is your long term goal?
Abervian's aim is to become the reference product engineering company in the electrical sector. We want any company, large or small, to think of Abervian first when faced with a technological challenge related to product development.

Our aim is to grow organically with our customers, projects and partners, so that no matter how much the company grows, we can continue to provide a high level of service to our customers, support all their needs and remain true to our core values.

Why did you decide to join the Light Mobility Cluster? What do you expect from the ecosystem and what can you contribute?

For a service company like ours, it is essential to stay in touch with the realities and challenges of the sectors in which we operate and add value. In this sense, being a member of the cluster offers us the opportunity to stay connected to the challenges and opportunities of the light mobility sector, as well as to contribute to the sustainability and increased competitiveness of the industry.

Finally, could you share a phrase that defines your company's culture and values?
Abervian is the place where passion and technology come together to deliver tangible results.
