ACCIÓ's top 10 technology trends for 2025


A report by ACCIÓ identifies the 10 technological trends that will shape the future until 2025. These technologies will drive change both globally and in Catalonia, positioning the region as a leader in several emerging sectors.

The 10 highlighted technologies:

  1. Artificial Intelligence (AI): AI will continue to revolutionise productivity and automation, with a focus on generative, ethical and adaptive AI.
  2. Cybersecurity: With the rise of digital threats, cyber resilience and quantum cryptography will be essential.
  3. Quantum technologies: These will open up new possibilities in computing and secure communications, with key applications in strategic sectors.
  4. New Space: The democratisation of space will enable the use of nanosatellites and improve sectors such as agriculture and logistics.
  5. Hydrogen: will become established as an energy vector for industrial decarbonisation.
  6. Descarbonisation: Crucial in the fight against climate change through electrification and CO₂ capture.
  7. Advanced manufacturing: Innovations such as 3D printing and digital twins will transform industry towards Industry 4.0.
  8. Semiconductors: Essential for technological innovation, with advances in microprocessors and quantum chips.
  9. Health technologies: A combination of digital health and precision medicine will transform healthcare.
  10. Blockchain: Will ensure security and transparency with applications such as tokenisation and P2P architectures.


Catalonia at the forefront

The region is a leader in the implementation of these technologies, thanks to initiatives such as the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (AI), the Cybersecurity Agency of Catalonia, and projects such as Hydrogen Valley and the New Space Strategy. Notable efforts also include quantum research, support for blockchain and leadership in health technologies with reference centres such as IRISCAT.

These trends represent key opportunities for companies and institutions looking to lead the technological and economic transformation of the future.
